IWC Watch Guide: Setting the Crown for Time and Date Adjustment

As a well-known watch brand in Germany and Switzerland, many people like IWC very much, and are curious about how to adjust the time and date?

1. According to the method explained in the user guide, pull out the crown to the position set by hand. If the watch stops running, it is difficult to determine whether the time displayed by the hands of the watch is morning or afternoon, but as long as the date display switches to the next day, it means that the time is midnight.

2. The rocker clock is at least 6 hours (i.e. 6 am). Use the fast transmission mechanism of the date display function to adjust the watch to yesterday's date and time. The date display function of the watch operates normally from 8pm to 3pm. Adjusting the watch needle at this time will destroy the performance of the movement. Of course, 6 o'clock in the morning is not the time to change the date display. It is most appropriate to adjust the watch hands at this time. After setting the date display to yesterday's date and time, you can perform the following procedure:

3. Push the crown back to its normal position, activate movement, then pull it out to the position set by hand, and adjust the second hand to twelve o'clock. This app allows you to set your watch to the second using a time signal.

4. Now turn the pointer clockwise until the date display shows today, and then adjust the time to about 5 minutes faster than the real time. If the time is already around 12 noon, you must turn the clock to the position after 12 o'clock. With the date display rocker, you can determine whether the watch displays around noon. Additionally, this method allows you to set the date between 12:30 midnight and 3:00 am without breaking the date display mechanism.

5. Now move the pointer to 1 minute ahead of the real time. When the real time is reached, immediately press the crown to reactivate the watch (if the watch is equipped with a screw-down crown, the crown will need to be tightened). Setting the date and time involves dynamic changes in the teeth of the gear train. Typically, the teeth of the two wheels are staggered to allow the wheels to rock freely and prevent them from getting stuck. When the watch is running normally, it means that the dial wheel system moves in the same direction on average; at this time, the dynamic changes of the teeth are not obvious. In addition, when you pull or push the watch crown, the other wheel immediately intersects with the wheel of the wheel train, resulting in obvious dynamic changes. For example, when you set the watch to forward action and push the crown, you will feel the minute hand jump slightly.

Note: When adjusting the watch time, be sure to remember not to rock the rocker counterclockwise. And move as slowly as possible, otherwise the date and time components of the watch will be damaged!
