Oris Artelier Complication 2026: Redesigned Moon Phase and Dual Time Watch

The Oris Artelier Collection, introduced in the early 2000s, stands as the brand's elegant dress watch family, contrasting with its more sporty dive watches. For 2026, Oris has reimagined the Artelier Complication, entrusting young product designer Lena Huwiler to modernize its look and feel. The result is a more urban and contemporary timepiece that retains the classic complications of moon phase and a 24-hour second time zone, now powered by the new calibre 782.

Design Philosophy: Simplified and Contemporary

The original Artelier Complication, powered by calibre 781, featured four sub-dials for day, date, moon phase, and a 24-hour second time zone with a day/night indicator. Huwiler has pared this down to just two sub-dials, creating a cleaner, more uncluttered dial. The vertical layout places a round moon phase sub-dial at 12 o'clock, echoed by a slightly larger 24-hour sub-dial at 6 o'clock. Unlike typical semi-circular moon phase apertures, the Artelier uses a full circular counter, showcasing the moon against a starry night sky and making its waxing and waning cycles fully visible.

The dial is available in ivory, midnight blue, or chestnut, with the sub-dials matching the dial color for a homogeneous effect. The central area is slightly domed with a grained texture, while the sloping peripheral section is smooth. Huwiler has also redesigned the indices—now wedge-shaped and tapering—applied to the smooth chapter ring, with their tips resting on the central grained area. The blunt-tipped hands echo the flat shape of the stepped indices. The space freed by removing the two counters at 9 and 3 o'clock now displays the names 'Artelier' and 'Oris' printed on the dial. Luminescence is limited to the hour and minute hands.

Case and Wearability

The stainless steel case measures 39.5mm in diameter, 11.8mm in thickness, and 45.5mm lug-to-lug, offering a versatile fit for various wrist sizes. A pusher at 4:30 adjusts the second time zone. The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, while the screwed caseback features mineral glass. Thanks to an extremely thin bezel, the dial remains the protagonist. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters.

Movement: Calibre 782

Sharing the same architecture as its predecessor, calibre 782 eliminates the gearing for the two additional indications of earlier models. Based on the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, it has been modified by Oris to support the moon phase at 12 o'clock and the 24-hour second time zone at 6 o'clock. It operates at a 4Hz frequency (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offers a 41-hour power reserve. The movement features Oris's signature red rotor and includes hours, minutes, and hacking seconds.

Pricing and Availability

The Oris Artelier Complication will be available in May 2026, priced at EUR 2,300 on a dark brown leather strap or EUR 2,500 on a stainless steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp. It comes in three dial variants—ivory, midnight blue, and chestnut—each offered with either strap or bracelet. This refreshed model successfully blends traditional complications with a modern, minimalist aesthetic, appealing to collectors seeking an elegant yet contemporary dress watch.

For enthusiasts of moon phase watches, the Artelier Complication offers a distinctive circular moon phase display and a practical second time zone, all within a refined 39.5mm case. Its accessible price point and versatile design make it a compelling addition to Oris's collection.
